As the event continues, our organizers are honing what makes the Forgotten Coast event exceptional.

The Forgotten Coast is a uniquely special place to all of us, with its natural beauty, classic old southern architecture, and wonderful local people, all lending inspiration for outstanding plein air art,’ says Susan Bassett, President of the Forgotten Coast Cultural Coalition board, organizers of the Forgotten Coast en Plein Air Paint Out for 19 years and counting.
— Susan Bassett, Past President Forgotten Coast Cultural Coalition
We are committed to sharing the plein air art experience with students, locals, and visitors alike, with events ranging from Student Art Day to artist residencies to art enthusiast education and collector opportunities. Proceeds from our event go back into our communities, extending the reach of our ten-day event year round.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Most of the events in the 10 days are free and open to the public. Several events, such as the Maecenas Dinner and Gala require a Collector’s Package to attend. What makes that special is ALL of the money you spend on a Collector’s Package is applied to the purchase of artwork!

  • Because our events take place from Alligator Point to Mexico Beach, you can stay in any of the beautiful communities along the Forgotten Coast. The Wet Room this year will be in Port St. Joe. There are hotels, home rentals, and other options for your stay in the area.

  • Yes! You can register to take a one on one painting station lesson from one of our Ambassador artists this year! Just go to the Ambassadors link on the menu at the top of any page and see the information about these artists and click the link to register for one.
